For many, Goa is more than a destination; it’s a feeling. It’s the sigh of relief as you leave city life behind and enter a state of profound peace. It’s the feeling of ‘Sukoon’ (Peace).

When Anshuman and Uttara, a couple from the bustling heart of Mumbai, approached us, this was the exact emotion they wanted to capture in their new Goa vacation home design. Their vision was a sanctuary that celebrated nature, warmth, and the timeless beauty of natural wood and metal.

This is the story of how we took a compact Candolim apartment and designed ‘Sukoon’, a home that truly speaks to your heart.

Interior Design Transformation in Goa

The Challenge: Designing a Functional Small 2 BHK Flat Interior Design

The property was a brand-new apartment tucked away in a peaceful, green corner of Candolim.

Yes, the space was compact. But the main challenge was ensuring we designed their home to look and feel exactly as they dreamed it. That’s the fun part for us.

Our goal wasn't just to fit a kitchen and a dining space in; it was to ensure this small area felt instantly expansive, serene, and authentically them

This is where the design puzzle begins: How do we achieve maximum functionality while making the home truly speak to their heart?

Functional Small 2 BHK Flat Interior Design

Custom Furniture to get the exact vision to life

We knew from the start that off-the-shelf furniture just wouldn't do justice to this space or to our clients' dream. This is where the magic of custom design, our true passion, really comes to life. For us, it’s not just about crafting a piece that fits a small corner; it’s about bringing a client's exact vision to life. It’s how we could, for example, meticulously match the warm, natural wood with the laminates throughout the home, creating that seamless, cohesive feel they were dreaming of.

Unique nested centre table

The centre table in the living room is actually one of our favourite custom pieces. We knew a single, bulky table would overwhelm the space. So, we designed this as a set of two nesting tables.

They can huddle together for a cozy, intimate feel or separate to act as side tables when Anshuman and Uttara have guests over.

Our clients loved the earthy look of stone, but the real thing would be impractical and far too heavy. Our solution? A custom resin finish that has all the beautiful, natural texture of stone but is wonderfully lightweight and perfect for a flexible home.

The Live-Edge Headboard

In the master bedroom, we wanted a piece that would speak directly to the client's love for natural materials. The answer was a custom headboard designed to be the room's bold centrepiece.

We carefully sourced two stunning, raw planks of live-edge African Walnut and framed them in a minimalist black metal frame. It's a powerful and organic design that demonstrates the beauty of natural material paired with a modern metal look.

This headboard isn't just furniture; it’s a confident statement, ensuring the home's warm, nature-focused story is the first thing our clients see when they wake up.

Customised Log Art

The heart of a home lies in the details. For this quiet nook, we moved beyond typical decor to create something truly personal: a custom log-slice art piece

We intentionally designed it to echo the materials used throughout 'Sukoon,' ensuring the warm wood and black metal lines match the home's cohesive look.

The Practical Entryway for a Goan home

The Practical Entryway for a Goan home

We believe a truly successful design anticipates the client's life. In Goa, this means preparing for sandy beach days, wet monsoon boots, and daily trips on a scooter. That's why we transformed the entry foyer into a highly functional yet welcoming zone.

The tiled feature wall ensures durability and easy cleaning, and beneath it, the custom storage bench serves a double purpose: a comfortable spot to sit and a dedicated place to store helmets and shoes out of sight.

Finished with a natural live-edge coat rack and sharp black metal lighting, the foyer instantly welcomes guests while seamlessly tying the home's cohesive wood-and-metal story together.

The Goan Vibe weaved into interior design

The home's serene atmosphere starts with our core palette of earthy, neutral tones and warm woods. To add personality and depth, we then looked beyond the apartment's walls and into the heart of Goa itself.

We deliberately chose pops of colour for the upholstery that mirror the vibrant yet muted hues of the local landscape specifically, the iconic facades of Fontainhas.

By selecting shades of sunny yellow and deep indigo blue, we ensured the home wasn't just beautiful, but was authentically rooted in the Goan spirit.

Biophilic Design: Bringing the Outside In

Biophilic Design: Bringing the Outside In

When designing a compact space, the goal is always to make it feel expansive. Our strategic solution was to blur the lines between inside and out using Biophilic Design.

The custom-made wallpaper in the master bedroom is more than just a beautiful feature; it directly echoes the lush greenery visible outside the windows, drawing the Goan landscape into the apartment.

This intentional design choice doesn't just look serene—it actually makes the limited space feel much bigger, reinforcing the connection to nature that is so essential to the feeling of Sukoon.

The Inner Space Signature: Why Clients Trust Our Interior Designers in Goa

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of this project was that it was handled almost entirely remotely. Anshuman and Uttara, trusting the process and our experience, placed immense faith in the Inner Space team.

We believe their own words say it best. Here is the 5-star review they left for us on Google:

“We are truly grateful for the incredible work done by Anchal and Yogesh for shaping our Goa home - Sukoon! The outcome is absolutely outstanding and beyond anything we imagined. Every detail was thoughtfully designed, fitting the space perfectly... It’s rare to find designers who can so effortlessly blend creativity with personal connection, and we feel truly blessed to have had them turn our dream into reality. Thank you Anchal, Yogesh and Team Inner Space.”

The 'Sukoon' project is a perfect reflection of our core philosophy. We don't design for a photoshoot; we craft real homes for real people, where a perfect balance of functionality and aesthetics is achieved without compromise.

With 17 years of experience, our commitment is to deliver a speckless final finish and an experience our clients can trust.
